Implementing quality childcare is a must if we want to truly see our children grow up to be successful. The children should always be the motivation – everything else is business practices. The Texas Rising Star 4-Star accreditation ensures just that, child focused care. Through mentoring and guidance, facilities can put their best foot forward with confidence through improved communication, updated curriculum, and fostering a child-first mindset.
Nikki Davis is the Executive Director of Youth Development at the Wichita Falls YMCA. As an educator, her experience in the classroom has allowed her to integrate the skills and experience of a teacher into her current leadership position. When speaking to Davis about her position and what her motivation is, it was very clear that Davis is passionate about helping as many families as possible. Her number one priority is to make sure that the children in her facilities are being fed educationally and nurtured accordingly. Davis is also adamant about making sure parents feel at ease leaving their children in her facilities. Attention to detail ensures quality care is being provided and leads to all-around success.
Thanks to Davis’s passion, the YMCA Youth Development Program has been able to outstretch their arms further into our community. They have established strong partnerships to address the needs of the communities they serve. Just this year, they established a full-time care facility at Colonial Church and after school care at: City View, Cunningham, Fain, Ben Franklin, Jefferson, John Tower, and Booker T. Washington elementary schools in conjunction with the Wichita Falls Independent School District. This expansion better serves busy working parents and allows them the peace of mind that a safe, convenient environment in their own neighborhood brings. These expansion programs began in Wichita Falls but they are working on developing Texas Rising Star quality programs in surrounding communities as well.
“There’s a huge impact being made here every single day”- Nikki Davis
…and because of that impact, these kids will see a brighter and more confident future ahead of them as they step into school age and beyond.
