Spotlight Moment Award Winners – Q3

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SPOTLIGHT MOMENT AWARD WINNERS!

Workforce Solutions North Texas is investing $20,000 this year to directly support workers in the Child Care industry who demonstrate exceptional skills for quality child care.

Two infant to pre-K teachers are selected EACH QUARTER from across our 11 counties to receive a $250 award for demonstrating an exceptional understanding of the benefits of positive teacher-child interactions in the classroom.

30 additional teachers are selected EACH MONTH to receive a $50 award for actively demonstrating positive teacher-child interactions.

“Positive teacher-child interactions are important because they build trust and security, children feel cared for when teachers are warm and inviting, making the child feel safe and welcome. Protected in a sense.

Emotional Development is supported, helping to teach them to manage and handle their emotions. Helps them in promoting positive behavior, praising them helps encourage them to learn self-control and cooperation. Encourages good language and communication, and conversations with teachers/adults help with vocabulary and listening skills. Interaction in a positive manner can lead to early talking skills.

Positive teacher modeling with kindness, empathy, sharing helping and problem solving together teaches great social skills. Self-Esteem is my favorite. When you acknowledge a child’s achievements and efforts, it boosts their confidence and that’s when you get the smiles and the good behavior.

To sum it up, positive teacher-child interactions produce a child with a lifelong attachment and memory of the teacher that was always positive and lifted them up. Told them they were doing a great job. Recognizing their abilities and strengths. Think about it, we all have that teacher that we remember over the rest, not due to learning most of the time but because of the Self-Esteem boost.”

“Positive teacher-child interactions are important because they help children feel safe, valued, and supported in the classroom. When teachers are kind, patient, and encouraging, children build trust and confidence, making them more willing to participate, ask questions, and explore new ideas.

These positive relationships also help children develop important social and emotional skills, such as sharing, communicating, solving problems, and managing their emotions. Children who feel respected and cared for are more likely to display positive behaviors, follow classroom routines, and enjoy learning.

By creating a nurturing and supportive environment, teachers help children develop the confidence, independence, and skills they need to succeed both in school and in everyday life.”
