Externships for Teachers – Businesses

Help strengthen YOUR future workforce! Employers are invited to host educators at their place of business. This program is an exciting opportunity for employers to provide teachers with hands-on experience that they can take back to the classroom. Here’s how employers are involved:

• Ensure teacher receives meaningful learning work experience in a fully supervised and safe working environment during the on-site segment of the externship.
• Designate a member of management or other team member to host and supervise the teacher extern and approve timesheets.
• Specify any dress or safety equipment requirements for the participating teacher (ie. safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, steel toe boots, or other).
• Provide feedback to Workforce Solutions North Texas regarding the program’s effectiveness.
• Collaborate with the independent school district to provide a tour of the worksite or offer a classroom presentation during the school year to extend the school-to-work pipeline.

Participating businesses are NOT committing to compensating teachers in any way.
